Hawes Associates

Whitnell’s have been the successful tenderer on six major earthworks contracts let by Hawes Associates in the last three years. The work is primarily large farm reservoirs designed within the ambit of the 1975 Reservoirs Act (As Amended). In addition to reservoirs Whitnell’s have also constructed intertidal flood levees on soft ground as designed and specified by Hawes Associates.

I am able to say that on each of the projects Whitnell’s competence has never been in question. All the projects have been completed on time, when the weather allows, and to budget.

The quality of the work and the plant provided has been excellent and the GPS 3D ground model control has been extremely helpful.

ACS Midlands

When Whitnell’s first came to this site at Wantage most of the guys on site had never seen a scraper, some wondered what on earth they were when they came off the low loaders.

When we put them to work the guys were standing around watching them, videoing and taking photos for hours with amazement. Out of about 50 guys on site only 3 of us had ever had the pleasure of working with them in the past and boy have they performed.

We will definitely be calling on Lionel Whitnell and his gang for any future earthworks contracts we get.

I have utilised Whitnells over the last 15 years, principally in the construction of new golf courses throughout the south-east of England.

The building of these courses has entailed the excavation and construction of numerous ponds and lakes, some forming reservoirs to store vital winter water, and others to add golfing and aesthetic interest to the course.
